to Jim Henson Day! The Puppeteers of America, the national association of puppeteers, are in Atlanta this week celebrating the National Puppetry Festival. Founded in 1937, the Puppeteers of America holds the National Puppetry Festival every two years and provides a chance for America’s puppeteers and friends to get together and share in their love of this great art form. On Saturday, July 18, 2009, the Center for Puppetry Arts and The Jim Henson Legacy are proud to invite the Puppeteers of America to the Center for Jim Henson Day. A proclamation on behalf of the Atlanta City Council will be given to the Center for Puppetry Arts. Festivities include encore performances of the Center’s hit show The Little Pirate Mermaid, performances of Grey Seal Puppets’ hilarious show The Emperor's New Clothes, and the Center’s three exclusive Jim Henson Exhibits. The public are welcome to attend the performances, tour around the exhibits, and help us celebrate the life and legacy of one of the world’s most influential puppeteers.
