We know it can be difficult finding ways to entertain your little ones during the summer months, so we want to make it a little easier for you. This summer, we’re introducing a number of new and enhanced educational and special museum offerings to supplement our Family Series programming. These activities will take place on select weekends and weekdays in between show runs. Keep reading for descriptions and dates of each, and plan your summer with us!

Tale Time is expanding to twice weekly this summer! On Tuesdays and Thursdays this June and July, we’ll gather in our Global Collection to read folktales in this puppet-led storytelling experience. Tale Time takes place at 2 pm and is FREE with Museum admission. Designed for ages K-3rd grade.

Tale Time dates: June 1, 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22, 27, 29; July 6, 11, 13, 18, 20, 25, 27

Toddler Tuesdays: Preschool Puppetry Playshop is a new, high-energy workshop created with your toddler in mind. These activities are designed for kids aged 2-4 to build confidence, motor and social skills through puppetry. Activities include puppet-making, reading activities, singalongs and more! Toddler Tuesdays: Museum Takeover is a new program that provides learning activities in the Museum, like gallery games, storytelling and much more. These programs take place select Tuesdays.

Geography, history, social studies and the arts all come together in our new World Wednesdays! This hands-on presentation teaches about global puppetry traditions, and you have the option to add on a special guided tour of the Museum to get up close with everything you just learned. Designed for ages K-5th grade.

World Wednesdays dates: June 7; July 26; August 2, 9

Discovery Days are back on select Thursdays this season. Each lesson covers a different region’s puppetry traditions, explained through storytelling, Pop Up Carts and a Create-A-Puppet Workshop. Designed for ages K-5th grade.

Discovery Days dates: June 1, 8; July 27; August 3

Museum EdVenture Days is a new museum-education hybrid program. It includes an interactive lesson on global puppetry traditions, hands-on activities and a special Create-A-Puppet Workshop.  It takes place on selects Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Designed for ages 4 and up.
