Ages 6+

Visiting artists from Kerla, India will perform a story from the Mahabharata using a form of traditional glove puppetry known as Pavakathakali.

Special Worlds of Puppetry Museum hours extended until 7pm.

Performance begins at 5:30pm in the Downstairs Theater.


All adults and children ages 2 and up must have a ticket.

To celebrate the opening of the Special Exhibit, Indian Puppets: The Great Stories and Dancing Dolls, the Center is hosting a performance of Kalyana Sougandhikam by Natana Kairali of Kerala, India. This story based on a story from the Mahabharata and is performed using Pavakathakali, a form of traditional glove puppetry. The performances are FREE with your admission to the Worlds of Puppetry Museum. Seats to the performance are limited and reservations will be required. Limit 4 per order. Saturday, January 20 - Celebration of India Family Day

Come celebrate the puppetry and culture of India! Special activities for the day include readings of The Wheels on the Tuk Tuk and a book signing with author Sue Sehgal, puppet building activities, yoga, Indian cultural performances, and more. 

Saturday, February 3 @ 8pm – Screening of Tomorrow We Disappear

This documentary is about Kathputli, India’s colony of artists, magicians, acrobats, and puppeteers, as they wrangle with the reality of their approaching eviction.
