GRADE LEVEL: 3rd - 6th
PUPPET: Hopi Kachina Hand Puppet
PROGRAM LENGTH: 60 minutes
Students learn about three different Native American cultures (Eastern Woodlands, Plains, Southwest) while they create their own Hopi Kachina Hand Puppet. Activities focus on the use of natural resources from the different regions, and how these resources shaped their lives in regard to clothing, shelter and even transportation. Students also discuss Kachinas and the Hopi culture in general. This is a great arts and social studies lesson all in one!
