The Center for Puppetry Arts uses the latest technology to offer its award-winning Distance Learning programs for PreK-adult through videoconferencing, webinars, and recorded content. Arts-infused workshops and interactive puppet performances are conducted via videoconferencing and are tailored to specific classroom topics and curriculum for PreK-12 groups. For PreK-5, hands-on puppet building integrates with science, social studies, language arts and other disciplines to create a dynamic, interactive virtual classroom for a unique field trip experience. Middle School/High School/Adult programs are discussion based. Programs complement national curriculum standards in language arts, social studies, science, math and other areas. The Center provides a comprehensive study guide and materials list for most programs.
Webinars (both live and recorded) and recorded workshops and lectures are available for teachers seeking demos and professional development (also available via videoconferencing). Recorded workshops are also ideal for anyone interested in learning about puppetry. Our Explore Puppetry Series (ages 14+) is accessible via www.learnitlive.com/CenterforPuppetryArts. In addition, nearly all of our videoconferencing courses for PreK-12 are offered via webinar.
Our Vimeo channel provides free content for on demand learning, including short teacher demos with program highlights, puppet construction videos, and other classroom resources.
PLEASE NOTE: Schools that do not have traditional videoconferencing equipment can utilize our free virtual room link (a cloud-based videoconferencing option) — all you need is a computer and internet connection! In addition, short informational sessions can also be delivered via Skype!
