![]() The Center for Puppetry Arts offers a variety of workshops and residencies to allow learners of all ages (preschool through adult) and all experience levels (from beginner to professional) to explore and enjoy the art of puppetry. Workshops can be customized to your needs and can be offered at your site or at the Center! Workshops for school-age children support educational standards and enhance classroom learning. Residencies can be tailored to suit your needs/class schedules, and can include an introductory performance/presentation, a mini-Museum, and classroom break-out sessions (on scriptwriting and literature, theatre games for puppetry, puppet design, puppet building, puppet performance, puppet history, puppets in world culture, and more). Fee: Varies by experience: range $600 - $3,000. Mileage and per diem/lodging rates apply. Discovering Puppetry in Other Cultures: An International Puppet Presentation ![]() Photo © Center for Puppetry Arts Watch puppets come to life during this entertaining and educational hands-on presentation! Learn about different puppet traditions from around the world as you explore the rich culture of puppetry. Celebrate the intersection of geography, history, social studies, and the arts! Preschool Puppetry Playshop ![]() Photo © Center for Puppetry Arts Preschool Puppetry Workshops are offered for children ages two to four. These workshops enhance motor skills, increase language and social skills, and develop self-confidence. Programs feature reading activities, songs, fingerplays and puppet-making. These high-energy, engaging experiences support early childhood literacy by bringing to life one of three terrific books for early readers, and celebrate creativity and the arts in developmentally-appropriate ways. Choose from the following titles: Dinosaurumpus! By Tony Mitton (illustrated by Guy Parker-Rees) Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed by Mo Willems A Cat and a Dog by Claire Masurel and Bob Kolar Fee: $150; up to 25 students. Duration: 1 hour. Mileage rates apply if at your location. Puppet Factory ![]() Photo © Center for Puppetry Arts This puppet-making activity is perfect for festivals and promotional events. In assembly-line fashion, participants build and decorate their very own puppet to take home. We provide one instructor and all puppet parts and decorations. Your organization provides tables, chairs, and adult volunteers. Choose from one of our unique puppet designs, or let us create a custom-made puppet for you! Fee: $170 per hour, two-hour minimum. Mileage rates apply — at your location ONLY, groups ONLY. Yields about 60 puppets per hour. Puppet Invention Workshop ![]() Photo © Center for Puppetry Arts Explore different puppetry styles, celebrate the history of the art of puppetry, create an exciting puppet of your own, and then bring that puppet to life by learning basic puppet manipulation! This workshop can be tailored to any group/classroom theme and can be adjusted to fit any schedule (one-hour or two-hour sessions suggested). Fee: Varies by design and number of participants. Perfect for school groups, church groups, community groups — any group interested in the finer points of puppet manipulation! We’ll provide a limited number of practice puppets to be used during the session, but having your own puppets (one per participant) is suggested. Fee: $150; up to 25 students. Duration: 1 hour.
