Children's Workshops
Hands-on, curriculum-based workshops for students in grades K-12. Lesson plans are available upon request. Children ages four and up (ages 2 and 3 welcome if accompanied by adult puppet builder) become puppet makers and puppeteers as they each create a puppet to take home and put that puppet into performance on our classroom stage. Learning activities and the puppet design correlate with the current Family Series show theme.
Workshops offered Tuesday-Sunday when Family Series performances are scheduled. Times and format (instructor-led or self-guided) vary depending on day of week and time of year—refer to show listings below for details.

Instructor-led Workshop= “taught” workshop. Teaching Artists will share a brief, fun, curriculum-based learning activity at the top of the workshop session and guide participants through the puppet-creation process step-by-step. No late seating/late arrivals. Please note that instructor-led workshops are often sold out due to group/school bookings.
Self-guided Workshop = “open” workshop. Though Teaching Artists will be present to aid you and to guide your creativity, you’ll be making your puppets with the help of instruction sheets and doing so at your own pace. No reservations required. You’re welcome to come and go at any point during the session, but please DO arrive at least 15 minutes before the workshop’s scheduled end time so that you have ample time to create your puppet.
PLEASE NOTE: due to limitations on room capacities, ALL CREATE-A-PUPPET WORKSHOPS ARE SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY. If the sessions are full and you are unable to wait or join us for a later session, To-Go Kits are available at the Ticket Sales windows.

Do time constraints prevent your students from participating in a Create-A-Puppet
Workshop after a performance? Is the time slot you need sold out? We have
the solution! Create-A-Puppet Workshop kits are available to take with you! The Education Department will assemble individual bags of puppet-making
materials for each person in your group. You supply glue and/or tape.
Makes a great follow-up art activity to further engage students and reinforce
what they've learned after a visit to the Center. Comes complete with
a fully illustrated step-by-step instruction sheet. Regular workshop fees apply. Available for groups or
individuals. Please call 404.873.3391 to reserve.
Group Fee:
$4.00 per person for tax-exempt school groups of 10 or more.
$4.32 per person for non-exempt school groups of 10 or more.
$4.75 per person for othergroups of 10 or more.

Indvidual & Member Fee:
$5.50 per person
